Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. When her father's departure from the family, she was raised up by her mother, grandparents, and godparents. Ford was suffering from anxiety disorder that was rooted in word associations as a young toddler. Ford began to be interested in acting as a teenager, and she joined the National Youth Theatre. Ford was accepted into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. But after just a few days, she realized that the school was not for her. Ford applied again for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and, on her fourth application, she was finally accepted. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler as a regular character on Doctor Who. Ford's debut on TV was a 1991 episode Surgical Spirit. By the moment she was done with school, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". Through the Nineties, Tate could be found on TV in shows such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. The regular theatre work she performed has led to her joining the Royal Shakespeare Company, for the 2000-2001 season. Tate's stand-up comedy style, which she began adding to her set in the year 1996, was soon gaining her attention.
